The Story Behind Nostria
From the early days of Notes to building the future of decentralized social media
The Beginning
Before Nostria, there was Notes. A feature rich Nostr client that we built. Our experience with Notes taught us the importance of user experience and the need for a reliable infrastructure to support decentralized communication.
Building and Growing
This was the year that more features was added to Notes. A lot of work went into making it a great client that performed well. Unfortunately there was no plan for monetization of Notes, and all development was done on voluntary contributions by developers.
Ariton
The team working on Nostria today, built a Super App called Ariton. Ariton was built on Web 5 protocol, not on Nostr protocol.
Unfortunately, the Web 5 project was shut down by Block (mother company of TBD). This was a big blow to the team, but we learned a lot from the experience.
Launching Nostria
Recognizing the need for reliable infrastructure to support the growing Nostr network, we launched Nostria. Nostria is designed to help the Nostr network scale, by building a modern Nostr client that does not rely on large centralized relays.
Building the Nostria app itself is not enough. We also needed to build a reliable infrastructure of relays and media servers to support the Nostr network.

Founder & CEO
Sondre is a software engineer with a background in distributed systems, experience from many sectors and industries. Has a passion for open source and decentralized protocols. He has been involved in the Nostr protocol since early times. Decentralize everything.
Kosta Korenkov
Software Engineer
Fullstack developer with a product focus. Interested in self sovereignty, making sense, minimalism, sane ways of living and making peace with oneself.
